BPC extends market reach in Pakistan with UnionPay collaboration Leading payment solutions provider BPC today has announced a collaboration with UnionPay International in Pakistan. As part of the understanding, BPC will offer its Access Control Server (ACS) solution and services to enable 3D Secure cardholder authentication to UnionPay issuer banks in the country. BPC’s ACS solution is certified with UnionPay International for 3D Secure authentication on its latest standards and mandates. The ACS product forms part of BPC’s SmartVista Suite platform, a host of comprehensive, state-of-the-art integrated software applications that help financial institutions and businesses to process all forms of electronic payments, including digital money transfers, plastic cards, smart chip cards and other personal payment methods. Among the SmartVista applications designed for the digital economy, is the ACS solution called 3-D Secure, which will provide UnionPay issuers instant authentication of cardholders during an online purchase. Quick and easy to use, 3-D Secure reduces the risk of fraud transactions and increases cardholder confidence in Internet purchases. It can be implemented as an integrated, standalone module or as a service, and is compliant to all functional and security standards set by international payment systems. BPC will host the solution locally, using its own software and ACS server ensuring quick time to market and costing that is reflective of regional prices. The country has seen tremendous growth in digital payments both in terms of value and volume of transaction during the last couple of years. Especially in the e-commerce sector, the usage of payment cards is gradually increasing and with it the need to secure the payments being made online by the consumers. The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and UnionPay International collaborate to support the growth of cross-border payments in the Arab region and beyond The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to create interoperability between Buna and UnionPay will expand the services provided to their network of participantsThe Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and UnionPay International (UPI), announced today the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish cooperation and create interoperability between Buna (the cross-border and multi-currency payment system owned by the AMF) and UnionPay. Under the terms of this MoU, Buna and UnionPay will be connecting their payment systems to introduce to their network of participants, fast, efficient, and multi-currency cross-border payment solutions. In this context, interlinking Buna and UnionPay’s payment systems will represent a step forward in both entities’ efforts to contribute to the global efforts to improve the accessibility and efficiency of cross-border payments.Moreover, the realization of interoperability between Buna and UnionPay represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen and expand the economic ties between the Arab region and the geographies in which UnionPay operates, in particular China and the Asian markets. Commenting on this MoU, His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman A. Al Hamidy, Director General Chairman of the Board of the Arab Monetary Fund, emphasized the importance of interoperability between global payment systems in promoting cross-border payment services, widening the access to safe and efficient payment solutions, and supporting the growth of economic activities. H.E Dr. Al Hamidy said: “Our partnership with UnionPay showcase Buna’s belief in the value of collaboration with global players in the payment industry, to realize the strategic objective of establishing financial bridges that link the Arab countries to their trade partners across the globe. OMA Group becomes TPSP of UnionPay International OMA Group LLC has been registered as Third Party Service Provider (TPSP) for UnionPay International. It has successfully verified its PCI compliance to the payment system and with this certification, OMA will provide banks with access to UnionPay’s network and maintain acquiring programs of the member banks in the UnionPay International system in the Middle East, Pakistan and other regions.
